Sources & Editorial Policy
How we aim to keep religious and educational content transparent, careful and correctable.

Source transparency
Religious content should identify its source wherever practical. Quran text, translations, prayer-time explanations and educational material should not be presented as anonymous authority.
Quran text and translation sources
IHSAYA retrieves Quran text and translation content from third-party Quran services, including AlQuran Cloud and QuranEnc. We rely on these providers for the underlying text and translation data rather than hosting an independently authored Quran text.
Translations
Translations are interpretations of meaning, not the Quran itself. IHSAYA identifies translation sources where practical and allows users to report suspected translation issues through Support.
For the current web Quran reader, English uses QuranEnc key english_saheeh, which QuranEnc currently identifies as English Translation - Noor International Center, version 1.1.2. Tamil uses QuranEnc key tamil_omar, Tamil Translation - Omar Sharif, version 1.0.3. The website keeps QuranEnc translation text and source footnotes intact rather than rewriting them.
Surah learning summaries
Each full Surah page includes a short IHSAYA “Understanding the Surah” section, three Surah-specific themes and reflection prompts. These are original educational summaries based first on the Quran text and attributed translation shown on the page. They are not tafsir, fatwa, hadith commentary or scholarly certification.
During editorial review, Surah-level themes may be cross-checked against public Quran reference material such as Quran.com Surah information pages, while structural metadata such as Surah order and ayah counts may be cross-checked against established Quran metadata references such as Tanzil. IHSAYA does not copy long tafsir passages into these summaries.
Prayer calculation limitations
Calculated prayer times depend on calculation method, geographic location and local convention, so they can differ from a local mosque or religious authority. Prayer pages state this explicitly rather than presenting a single calculated time as the only correct one.
Hijri and calendar limitations
Hijri/Islamic calendar dates shown on IHSAYA are calculated conversions from the Gregorian calendar. Local moon-sighting announcements can differ from a calculated date, particularly around the start of a new month. Verify important dates such as Ramadan or Eid with a trusted local authority.
Educational content vs. religious rulings
IHSAYA's articles and in-app guidance are educational and informational. They are not religious rulings (fatwa) and are not a substitute for a qualified scholar or a trusted local religious authority. Users should verify matters of significant religious importance with such a source.
AI-assisted drafting and localization
Automation may assist drafting or localization of website content, including Tamil and future-language versions, but religious and educational pages should be reviewed before publication. The website should not publish large volumes of low-value pages merely to target search terms.
Human review expectations
Draft content is reviewed for source care, tone and basic accuracy before it is published. This is editorial review by the IHSAYA team, not a formal Islamic scholarly certification, so it does not replace independent verification for matters of significant religious importance.
