Understanding Al-Humazah
Al-Humazah condemns mocking, slandering and measuring security through accumulated wealth. It portrays the false confidence that money can make a person lasting and warns of a fire that reaches into the heart. This page intentionally separates the translated Quran text from IHSAYA's short educational summary.
Mockery and slander are treated as serious moral harms, not harmless entertainment.
Accumulation becomes dangerous when a person imagines it can secure life itself.
The punishment imagery reaches inward, matching the inward pride and contempt condemned earlier.
Editorial basis: the Quran text and attributed translation on this page. See IHSAYA Sources for the editorial sourcing standard.
Reflection prompts
- Is humor in my speech ever built on humiliating another person?
- What does my saving or collecting behavior reveal about where I expect security?
