Understanding Al-Ma'idah
Al-Ma'idah emphasizes keeping covenants, respecting lawful boundaries, acting justly and remaining faithful to revelation. It also revisits the messages of earlier communities and the account of Jesus and his disciples. This page intentionally separates the translated Quran text from IHSAYA's short educational summary.
The Surah opens with the language of covenants and repeatedly treats promises and obligations as serious trusts.
Dislike of others is not allowed to become an excuse for injustice.
Earlier communities are discussed as a warning against selectively accepting or altering divine guidance.
Editorial basis: the Quran text and attributed translation on this page. See IHSAYA Sources for the editorial sourcing standard.
