Understanding An-Nas
An-Nas closes the Quran with a prayer for refuge in Allah, described as the Lord, Sovereign and God of mankind, from the whispered evil that withdraws, whether it comes from jinn or from people. This page intentionally separates the translated Quran text from IHSAYA’s short educational summary.
The Surah addresses Allah by three titles — Lord, Sovereign and God of mankind — before making its request.
It names a whispering harm that retreats when Allah is remembered, rather than something permanent or overpowering.
As the Quran's final Surah, it ends the text with a request for protection rather than a narrative or ruling.
Editorial basis: the Quran text and attributed translation on this page. See IHSAYA Sources for the editorial sourcing standard.
Reflection prompts
- What whispered doubt or suggestion do I need to actively resist rather than accept passively?
- Does remembering Allah in a difficult moment actually change how loud that whisper feels to me?
