Understanding Ar-Rahman
Ar-Rahman opens by naming Allah as teacher of the Quran and creator of humankind, then moves through a long list of blessings in the heavens, the earth, the seas and the Hereafter, each followed by the repeated question, 'which of the favors of your Lord will you both deny?' It addresses both humankind and jinn directly. This page intentionally separates the translated Quran text from IHSAYA's short educational summary.
The Surah opens by connecting revelation, creation and provision directly to Allah's mercy.
Its recurring refrain asks the listener to recognize and not deny the favors described.
It describes balance in the heavens and the earth and calls for justice and fairness in response.
