Understanding Al-Ikhlas

Al-Ikhlas is a short, concentrated statement of Allah's oneness: He is one, self-sufficient and depended upon by all, neither begetting nor begotten, and without equal. This page intentionally separates the translated Quran text from IHSAYA's short educational summary.

Allah's oneness

The Surah opens by declaring that Allah is one, without partners or division.

Self-sufficiency

It describes Allah as depended upon by everything while depending on nothing.

Without equal

It closes by stating that nothing is comparable to Allah.

Reflection prompts

  • What changes in my daily reliance when I truly hold that Allah alone is self-sufficient?
  • Where might I be treating something else as comparable to Allah in my priorities?
